Formed in 1980. Taylor's
Foods began as a producer and packer of quality, variety honey. After the
receipt of a dark batch of honey, a family recipe was used to produce a
honey based 'Old Fashioned Cough Mixture'.
Following the success of the cough mixture, Taylor's embarked on a long
period of sustained product development. Taylor's first food product was
Taylor's Premium Mayonnaise, a quality egg free and honey sweetened
mayonnaise.
Taylor's
Marinades were first released in 1983 and quickly gained a strong and
loyal following throughout Melbourne. As the marinades gained acceptance
their distribution grew to include all states and New Zealand.
By 1990, Taylor's had firmly established its presence as a reliable producer
of marinades, mayonnaise and cough mixture. Structural changes in 1990 saw
relocation to a Carrum Downs premises and a rationalisation of the business
to focus purely on food.
In 1991, Taylor's increased its status as a general food manufacturer through
the introduction of several new product lines. These included cholesterol
free seafood sauces and cholesterol free salad dressings.
In 1993 Taylor's released a range of chicken specific simmer sauces. Originally
targeted at specialty outlets, Chicken Gourmet Peanut Satay and Honey
Macadamia are available through selected supermarkets.
Driven by consumer requests for a more convenient bottle, Taylor's redesigned
its packaging in 1995. The new bottle design included a wider mouth and
more effective and attractive tamper protection. Taylor's Food's packaging
efforts were recognised in the 1996 Australian Packaging Awards with a gold
and silver award for packaging excellence.
1997 and saw further growth with the launching of Taylor's Stir-Fry sauces
and extension of the existing categories.
The United Kingdom was targeted as an export opportunity in 1998. To satisfy
this sophisticated market, Taylor's developed the Wild Harvest brand.
Wild Harvest is a boutique range of quality sauces made from premium Australian
ingredients and featuring key indigenous ingredients such as Aniseed
Myrtle, Bush Tomatoes, Mountain Pepper and Macadamia Nuts. The sauces
are made in Australia and packaged in Taylor's award winning glass packaging.
In the year 2000 Taylor's began a new stage of it's development relocating
to the Henry Jones Foods factory in Kyabram, Victoria. Larger facilities
and extra manufacturing equipment will allow the range to expand whilst
continuing to offer premium quality products. |
